RetroD2 - Diablo II 1.06b Private Realm

Install RetroD2

Download RetroD2 Launcher

A working Diablo II installation is required before installing RetroD2. The launcher installs and updates the RetroD2 files needed to play on the realm; no CD key is required to connect.

Install Diablo II first, then download the launcher archive, extract it into its own folder, install the RetroD2 files, and connect through the RetroD2 Battle.net gateway.

2

Extract to a new folder

Create a new folder for RetroD2 and extract the entire launcher archive into it. A recommended location is:

C:\Users\my-user\Games\RetroD2
Important: Do not install RetroD2 inside Program Files. Windows permissions there may cause access or update errors.
3

Run RetroD2Launcher

Right-click RetroD2Launcher and choose Run as administrator.

During first-time setup, the launcher may offer to create a desktop shortcut. Choose Yes to create one or No to continue without it.

Windows Defender may display a warning. Select More info, then Run anyway.

4

Install game files

Confirm that Diablo II is already installed, then use the launcher's Install Game Files option. The launcher downloads and installs the RetroD2-specific files in the same folder.

The launcher does not replace the required Diablo II installation. Keep the launcher and all downloaded RetroD2 files together, and do not move only the launcher after installation.

5

Click Play to run RetroD2

After the installation finishes, click Play.

Use the controls below the Play button to select Fullscreen or Windowed Mode.

6

Connect to the RetroD2 realm

On the Diablo II main menu, click BATTLE.NET.

Before connecting, confirm that the selected gateway reads:

GATEWAY: RETROD2
7

Create your account and hero

Create your RetroD2 account from the Battle.net login screen, then create your first character.

You may receive a Realm Down message during the first character-creation attempt. It should return you to character selection; try creating the character again.

After creation, you will enter the Battle.net chat channels. Say hello and start a game.
